AFSC Board Meeting

ATTENANCE:
     Dawn Skerski, Carrell Spann,Pam and Paul Coleman, Anise Johnston,
Staci LeBlanc,Amy Gagnon, Laurie Boboltz,Stacy Gerhart, Marie Grochowski 

CALL TO ORDER:  6:39pm

MINUTES:
     Minutes from April 17 Executive Board Meeting do not need to be approved.

CORRESPONDENCE:
     None.
     Addresses were passed out for review before giving to Cece for registration.

TREASURER REPORT:
     Need last years books audited before they can be closed.   
     
OLD BUSINESS:  
     Fundraising
*New Poker Room in town, "ThunderBay Poker Room".  Contact person Frank Reno 595-0016.
 Questions asked-Do we need new license? Can we get out of contract with Poker Palace? Or transfer license?
*Rada Knifes:  Sell for 2 to 3 weeks for Christmas Delivery
*Culvers Butter Bucks:  Sell coupons for a longer amount of time, possibly at the rink.
*Butter Braids:  Sell for Easter Delivery
*Put Put Golf:  Outing at JJ Awsome Acres
*50/50 tickets:  
     Coaches Requirements:  Coaches Card, Continuing Education, and PSA's are done.
*Mary Ellen-Level B for saction events, and a class to be completed by Oct 11th.
*Teri-Level A for national events.
*Cece-Level A for national events, and our chair person.
 
NEW BUSINESS:
     Student Assistants:
Meagan Plowman, Breanna Schmanski, Taylour Boboltz, Courtney Gagnon, Christine Burke, Phoebe Wojciechowski,
Carly Kazmierczak, Stefany Barba, Jane Spann, Kristi Keskimaki, and Carly Grochowski.   
     Volunteer Helpers: 
Cece Bullen, Staci LeBlanc, Stacy Dawson, and Cynthia Fountain.
     Volunteer Program:
Steve Plowman was asked to be our liason person between AFSC and Thunder Hockey for fundraising events.
M-PAC and the NLA may loose the management of the rink to the Park Foundation.
Should the $30.00 Voluteer fee for 4 hours of work be imposed at registration?
     M-PAC First Year Skater Program:
M-PAC will be awarding our club $4,200 for the First Yr Skater Program.
Brand new skaters will be given free lesson and ice time fees.
They will need to pay: $75.00 Club fee, $30.00 Volunteer fee, $85.00 township fee, and $15.00 USFS Basic Skills fee.
Stacy Gerhart made the motion to keep the first year skater program the same as last year.
Dawn Skerski seconded and the motion was carried.
     2010-2011 AFSC Skating Fees:
NLA will not be increasing the ice fees this year.
AFSC would like to keep the per minute ice fee cost at .30cents.  Which is the same rate as last year. And keep the
coaches rate the same as last year as well.
Dawn Skerski made the motion to keep the ice fees the same.  It was seconded by Marie and the motion was carried.
     2010-2011 Registration nights:
Registration would be held at NLA on Mon. Sep. 20th and Thu. Sep 23rd from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
Lori made the motion to approve these dates and times for registration.  It was seconded by Dawn and motion was carried.
Dawn, Anisa, Paul, and Marie would work on preparing the registration paperwork.
     APS Friday folder information:
Paul had the flyer ready for printing.
     Ice Show dates/ skating weeks:
Possible Show dates are March 12th, April 9th, or April 16th.
Skating sessions for 22 weeks of skating would look like the following:
Session 1 - Oct 4 thru Nov 22
Session 2 - Nov 29 thru Feb 3
Session 3 - Feb 7 thru Mar 17
No agreement could be made at this time and the issue was tabled.

OTHER INFORMATION:
     Music committee has 16 songs for our show.
     Practice Ice- High School team wants Thur nights for 20mins.
                  Other practice ice would be available for Thur and Sun?
     Have a mentor person team up with a brand new skater to help with questions and information.
     Replace Lori Keskimaki with new board member.

     Carrell made the motion to adjourn the meeting.  It was seconded by Lori and motion
was carried by all.
